イタリア・サレルノ出身。サレルノ音楽院やナポリ美術アカデミー、ストックホルムのクングリーガ・ムジクスコランで研鑽を重ね、現在はストックホルムを拠点にして、ジャズ、クラシック音楽、ポップ、アヴァンギャルドなどさまざまなシーンで演奏するほか、現代舞踊、映画、演劇の作曲も行なっているベーシスト＆コンポーザーのイラリア・カパルボの最新作は、前述の彼女の経歴が存分に反映された音楽性豊かな作品。ミステリアスな響きを放つ(1)や、ドラマティックな展開を見せる(3)など、クインテット編成から、壮大な音楽絵巻を描いてみせる。(早田和音)
Born in Napoli, Italy. Having honed her craft at the Salerno Conservatory, the Naples Academy of Fine Arts, and the Royal College of Music in Stockholm (Kungliga Musikhögskolan), bassist and composer Ilaria Capalbo is currently based in Stockholm. In addition to performing across diverse scenes including jazz, classical music, pop, and the avant-garde, she also composes for contemporary dance, film, and theater.
Her latest work fully reflects her rich background through a deeply musical expression. From a quintet lineup, the album paints a magnificent musical tapestry—ranging from the mysterious resonance of track (1) to the dramatic unfolding of track (3).
